Safeguarding Children and Young People Who May be Affected by Gang Activity, Youth Violence and Criminal Exploitation Further text was added to Section 2, Definition of a Gang to define the use of ‘county lines’ by organised criminal groupsand in further informationa link was added to the Home Office publication Criminal Exploitation of Children and Vulnerable Adults: County Lines. This guidance outlines what county lines (and associated criminal exploitation) is, signs to look for in potential victims, and what to do about it. Information was also added throughout to describe how organised criminal groups exploit young people and use them to distribute money and illegal drugs along ‘county lines’.
Managing Individuals who Pose a Risk of Harm to Children The link was amended to the National MAPPA Guidance (November 2017) as this has been updated.

Child Sexual Abuse in the Family Environment This chapter has been added to the manual. Sexual abuse which takes place within family environments often remains hidden and is the most secretive and difficult type of abuse for children and young people to disclose.
